National Consumer Panel Review: Is it Worth My Time?

National Consumer Panel logo

Do you find yourself in stores shopping for the best deals and products? Do you find yourself loyal to a specific product or brand of products while you shop? Well, National Consumer Panel wants to know. With National Consumer Panel you are basically a walking survey. Since they get your information on how you shop, they pay you!

What is National Consumer Panel?

The National Consumer Panel (NCP) is a operational joint venture between two of the biggest consumer insight companies in the United States. These two companies are Nielsen and IRi. You probably have heard of Nielsen when it comes to deciding what is on T.V., with certain families being "Nielsen Families," and having what they watch recorded. Furthermore, IRi is an American market research company that provided companies with market intelligence and analysis of packaged consumer goods. These two joined forces to create NCP, to help companies get noticed, track buyer habits, and increase the consumer shopping experience.

How Can I Join?

Joining is easy and painless. To join you just have to go onto their website and register. You will fill out a quick questionnaire and be on your way to start taking surveys, and getting paid to shop. All you have to have to be a member of the NCP community is a computer and a email.

How Does National Consumer Panel Work?

NCPMobile APP

Similar to other websites, National Consumer Panel offers surveys on its websites that you can take for points. These points can then be used to purchase products off of a magazine they have. Products can be anything from a I-Tunes gift-card, to a AMC gift-card. However, what makes National Consumer Panel unique, is that you can earn points by going out and shopping. They will send you a barcode scanner, for free, and you will use that to log what you purchase when you get home after shopping. Conversely, if you have a smartphone, you can use their app.  For example, if you are at Walmart, and picking up some grocery items, you can log them on the website through the bar-code scanner and earn points. National Consumer Panel does not tell you what to shop for, therefore you can shop as you normally would.

Sweepstakes.

In addition to earning points, by just being a member you are entered into quarterly sweepstakes. This is also unique to this website, and although its a long shot, its still fun to be in the running. Sweepstakes happen quarterly, and have prizes up to $20,000. The saying is the more the merrier, therefore the more ways to earn money, the better the site. National Consumer capitalizes on this, by offering the sweepstakes.

How Do I Get Paid?

Members earn points by completing surveys and scanning barcodes. Each 1000 points is worth $1 of real money. Surveys offer between 500-2000 points, and scanning barcodes roughly equals 20-50 points per item. However, when you reach 8000 points, you can cash out. Cashing out means that you can choose items from a catalogue that the website has of items and products.

Secondly, a great way to boost your earning potential is to stay a member. National Consumer Panel takes loyalty very serious, and reward those who stay. The longer you have been a member = the more points you get per survey and per barcode.

Is It Safe?

National Consumer Panel keeps your information safe. All three companies, Nielsen, IRi, and their joint venture, ensure that members information will be kept safe. They all are accredited businesses from the Better Business Bureau (BBB). The BBB holds all of its companies to a standard of privacy to ensure that its business keep member information safe. This standard of privacy is applied to all companies ranked by them, therefore they are as legit as every other company. Often times people are skeptical about giving their information to a website, but know that you know they are ranked, fear not.

Pros

  • Easy to sign up
  • A joint venture of two monster companies
  • Proven to pay out consistently
  • Multiple ways to earn

Cons

  • Low point values
  • No Pay-Pal cash-out

Should I use National Consumer Panel?

National Consumer Panel is a great website. They are proven to be legit through their connection with Nielsen and IRi, and have paid out to its members on time and with great prizes. Furthermore, you are earning just by shopping, which you probably do already. Why not get paid for it?

However, if you aren't a big shopper, you may find this site too hard to earn points on.  We think that a better option would be to use Ebates.  If you are looking for a site that mainly conducts surveys and product testing, do not fret, there are still options out there. With that said, check out our top 20 survey sites that can help you make some serious cash without ever leaving your home. Finally, enjoy the site if you choose to use it, otherwise good luck making some money, and I hope I helped you out!

More Ways To Earn

Being that we are a site that writes reviews for money making opportunities, we have many more options for you. A couple interesting ones are Swagbucks, Amazon Flex, and Mindswarms. Swagbucks is on the most popular survey sites out there, and their members are very loyal to them. Loyal members mean legitimate business, and great customer satisfaction.

However, if you don't want to site on your computer all day, get out and drive around! Amazon Flex is a company where you can be a delivery driver for Amazon whenever you have time. Just turn on the app, see where packages need to be delivered, pick them up and deliver them! You either pick them up from a warehouse, store, or even a restaurant. Don't worry, you don't have to drive too far, all apps have a distance option where you can set how far you want to drive.

Finally, there is Mindswarms. We really like Mindswarms because you get to record yourself taking surveys and reacting to products and questions. This gives companies genuine responses, and it is a cool, untraditional way to take surveys.
